Avoid costly Aircraft on Ground (AOG) downtime with the Bird FlightHawk® RF Aviation Test Kit. This comprehensive kit combines specialized components for avionics testing into a single compact package. With intuitive software based on aircraft OEM specifications, easily identify and resolve RF cable, connector, and antenna issues.
Bird’s FlightHawk RF Aviation Test Kit combines a unique set of components specifically designed for avionics testing and measurement. In a single rugged case, the kit includes
The FH-AV-KIT includes everything you need to immediately start testing your Avionics RF antenna systems in a single rugged case designed to be hauled around the tarmac, strip, or deck.
The FH-AV-KIT includes all of the above, everything you need to get started verifying and troubleshooting your avionics RF systems right out of the box.
Buy Now Get Expert HelpBesides Bird's popular 4240-401 adapter kit that allows you adapt between any N, BNC, TNC, UHF, or SMA connectors, you also get additional SMA adapters as well as connectors for ARINC 600 Size 1 and 5 Coax, common sizes for RF avionics.
The Bird 5017D-AV wideband power sensor is optimized for aviation measurements. The included 25 W load allows you to take terminated power measurements of your RF systems.
The FH-AV-BASIC Kit includes a FlightHawk cable & antenna analyzer, rugged case, and FlightHawk Cal combo. It forgoes the adapters, load, and power sensor of the FH-AV-KIT. This kit is ideal for teams looking to have an extra FlightHawk for ground staff, or those bringing their own accessories.
When performing standard tests on an aircraft, especially when tests will be performed by non-experts, the FlightHawk optional Automated Mode is ideal. In conjunction with an aircraft technical manual, this mode provides simple pass/fail results for aircraft RF hardware like ATC/DME, HF, ILS Glideslope & Localizer, marker beacon, radar altimeter, SATCOM, TCAS, VHF, and VOR.
It quickly identifies problems, while retaining the standard FlightHawk UI as an Advanced Mode.
A Bird Factory Calibration ensures your FlightHawk is continuing to provide accurate, reliable data. We recommend a Factory Calibration of the calibration combo (and power sensor) at least once every year, and the FlightHawk at least once every 3 years.

The 5017D-AV is a modified 5017D Wideband Power Sensor for the aviation industry. It measures thruline RF power from 500 mW to 500 W average, 13.3 W to 13000 W peak, from 100 MHz to 1.3 GHz. With the 25 W load included in the FlightHawk kit, you can also measure terminated power.
FlightHawk enables you, and all ground staff, to quickly Pass/Fail the performance of aircraft antenna systems whether they're RF experts or not. When problems are found, Distance-to-Fault measurements identify the location of the fault.
