Bird Technologies is committed to meeting the requirements of the European Union (EU) REACH Regulation (EC 1907/2006) concerning the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals. We are actively working with our suppliers to eliminate or reduce these restricted substances that are used in our manufacturing processes. We monitor the additions of Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) to the Candidate List (currently at 247 as of January 21st, 2025). For a Bird product that contains a SVHC above the threshold of 0.1% by weight, specific substance information by part number may be provided by contacting compliance.request@birdrf.com.
The Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directive was adopted by the European Union (EU) in 2003. RoHS restricts the use of lead (Pb), mercury (Hg), cadmium (Cd), hexavalent chromium (Cr6+), polybrominated biphenyls (PBB), and polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE) in electronic equipment. The following hazardous materials were added to the list as part of the third RoHS Directive (EU) 2015/863: Bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP); Butyl benzyl phthalate (BBP); Dibutyl phthalate (DBP); and Diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP).
Bird’s products adhere to the environmental regulations established by three RoHS Directives. Directive 2002/95/EC is referred to as RoHS1; Directive 2011/65/EU is referred to as RoHS2; and Directive 2015/863 is referred to as RoHS3. RoHS1 and RoHS3 name the restricted substances listed in the above paragraph. RoHS2 established rules for electrical and electronic equipment (EEE), information required on a Declaration of Conformity; and affixing the CE marking on finished product.
Application exemptions are listed in Annexes III and IV to RoHS (2011/65/EU). Annex III contains applications exempted from the restriction in Article 4(1), while Annex IV lists applications exempted from the restriction in Article 4(1) specific to medical devices and monitoring and control instruments.
